Step 3 · Payable brokerage
First brokerage that is actually payable to publishers
Interactive Brokers runs a CPC publisher program for finance publishers. Fidelity, Schwab, and Vanguard do not pay publishers. That is a publisher fact, not a claim that IBKR is the right brokerage for every reader. No tracking links on this page.
A brokerage can be a good place to hold securities and still be a dead end as a publisher relationship. Those are different questions. This page answers the publisher question first, then the account-opening question, without pretending they are the same ranking.
What “payable to publishers” means here
It means the firm runs a program that pays a third-party publisher for referred traffic or accounts, under a written insertion order or network contract — not a customer “refer-a-friend” bonus paid in stock slices or credits to an existing retail account.
Interactive Brokers publishes two tracks on its affiliate-programs page: an Influencer Program (contact influencers@ibkr.com) and a CPC Publisher Program for publishers focused on finance and broker reviews (contact publishers@interactivebrokers.com). Formation Lane is a publisher, not an influencer track. The CPC Publisher Program is the one that matches this site.
IBKR’s publisher-program page, as retrieved 28 August 2026, states:
- Compensation is cost-per-click, with rates and a maximum monthly revenue payment set at the start of the relationship and adjusted with performance. There is no advertised cap on how many times those figures may be increased.
- The key metric is open and funded accounts, not raw clicks alone.
- A test campaign of 30 to 90 days is the usual start.
- Invoicing is monthly, net 30.
- Publishers based in Chile, China, Israel, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Portugal, or Spain are ineligible for that program.
Exact CPC rates are not a public rate card on that page. Anyone quoting a specific dollar-per-click without an IBKR insertion order is inventing. This site will not invent one.
Fidelity, Schwab, and Vanguard
Fidelity, Charles Schwab, and Vanguard are large, regulated US broker-dealers. They are reasonable places for many households to hold index funds. They do not run a CPC publisher program comparable to IBKR’s. Customer referral programs, where they exist, pay the customer — not a third-party publisher writing reviews. Treating those three names as if they were affiliate offers is how a finance site quietly works for free while implying it is paid.
Unpaid is not the same as unfit. A reader whose needs are a three-fund portfolio and a local branch should not open IBKR because a publisher gets paid. A publisher should not imply those firms pay for clicks when they do not.
No live apply links on Formation Lane
As of 28 August 2026, Formation Lane has not applied to IBKR’s publisher program and has not joined an affiliate network. This page therefore has:
- A source link to IBKR’s own affiliate-programs page (informational, no tracking parameters).
- No “open an account” referral URL.
- No fake
/go/ibkrredirect.
To open a brokerage account, apply on the issuer’s own website. For Interactive Brokers, that is the Interactive Brokers site — typed, not tracked through this publisher. FINRA BrokerCheck remains the place to confirm a firm’s registration.
What an IBKR account actually is
Interactive Brokers LLC is a broker-dealer (the program page identifies it as a member of NYSE, FINRA, and SIPC). It is a full brokerage platform: stocks, bonds, funds, options, and more, with its own margin, inactivity, and commission schedule. Those terms live in IBKR’s customer agreement and pricing pages, which change. This page does not paste a 2026 commission table; read the issuer’s current pricing before funding.
SIPC protection, where it applies, is about missing assets if a member brokerage fails. It is not a guarantee against market loss. Excess-of-SIPC insurance, if any, is the firm’s then-current disclosure, not this publisher’s.
Margin, options, and concentrated single-stock bets are not part of a first-time operator stack. Parking LLC operating cash in a brokerage in order to pick stocks is a different, worse idea than the cash page.
How this will be ranked later
If Formation Lane later joins the CPC Publisher Program, two things will change in public: the How we make money page, and a disclosure next to any tracked link. What will not change is the rule that Fidelity, Schwab, and Vanguard are unpaid to publishers. A page will not quietly slide an unpaid firm down a list because a paid firm exists. “Payable” stays a labeled column, not a hidden sort.
